Who we are

Drunk Waiter is a casual endless-walking game for iPhone (an Android version is planned). It is made and published by Red Mallet Studio (Vasyl Iliuchenko, Ukraine). In this policy, “we” and “us” mean Red Mallet Studio.

Questions about privacy? Write to us at red.mallet.studio@gmail.com.

What we don't do

Drunk Waiter is free. There are no in-app purchases, no ads, no advertising SDKs, no third-party analytics and no tracking. We don't use your device's advertising identifier (IDFA). There are no user accounts, no login and no social features.

What stays on your phone

Your best distance and your game settings are saved locally on your phone, in the game's save file. They stay on your device and we never receive them. Deleting the app deletes them.

The online leaderboard

The leaderboard is the only part of the game that sends data to our server.

What the game sends

  • When a run makes the worldwide top 100, you can type a nickname (up to 16 characters). It can be anything you like, but please don't use your real name. The game sends that nickname and your distance in meters.
  • To show what rank a run would get, the game asks the server about the distance. That request contains only the distance.

What we store

For each leaderboard entry the server stores the nickname, the distance, the time it was submitted and a random entry ID. Only the top 100 entries are kept. When an entry falls out of the top 100, it is deleted automatically.

Who can see it

The leaderboard is public: every player can see each entry's rank, nickname and distance in the game.

Nickname filter

Nicknames are filtered automatically. Offensive words are partly or fully replaced with “*”.

Our server, security and IP addresses

Leaderboard requests travel over HTTPS to our own server: a virtual private server we rent from Hosting Ukraine, located in Ukraine. We do not sell or share leaderboard data with anyone.

Like any server, ours sees your device's IP address with each request. We use it only to limit abuse (at most 10 submissions per minute from one IP address). It is kept in memory for about a minute and is never written to the leaderboard. We don't keep server access logs.

Reporting a nickname

If you see an offensive nickname, tap “Report a name” on the in-game leaderboard. It opens an email to red.mallet.studio@gmail.com. We review every report and remove names that break the leaderboard rules. We aim to act within 48 hours.

Deleting your leaderboard entry

Want your entry removed? Email red.mallet.studio@gmail.com with the nickname, the distance and the approximate date of your run, and we'll delete it.

When you email us

If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply and to handle your report or request.

Playing offline

The game works without an internet connection. Only the leaderboard needs one.

Permissions

The app does not access your camera, microphone, location, contacts or photos. iOS requires a camera description text because the game engine includes camera code, but the game never asks for or uses the camera.

Crash reports and statistics from Apple

If you have agreed in your iOS settings to share analytics and crash data with app developers, Apple may provide us with anonymous crash reports and app usage statistics through App Store Connect. This is controlled by Apple and by your device settings, not by the game.

Children

Drunk Waiter is not directed at children under 13 and is rated 12+ (cartoon humor about a drunk waiter and references to alcohol). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If a child has submitted a nickname that identifies them, a parent can email red.mallet.studio@gmail.com and we will remove it.

Your rights

Wherever you live, including the EU, the UK (GDPR) and California, you can ask us by email to access or delete your leaderboard data. We don't sell personal information.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll post the new version on this page and update the “Last updated” date at the top.
